With my own experience with students at Timbertop and in the Scottish Highlands, not to mention jungle survival with the Australian Infantry in the Vietnam War (alas, no horses!), I congratulate Barry Rodgers on this visionary project and thoroughly commend it to all who would seek a positive alternative to the sad decline in standards which is becoming so evident in today’s Australia. It’s an opportunity to take stock, adopt positive habits, learn useful skills, and envision a future of contribution to society at large, beginning within the family.

Barry is a man with genuine interest and devotion to see young people  reach their potential in life. He has given so much of his life to the youth of our land and is very suited to working with them. 

He is a visionary who has achieved much with the resources that have been available for him to work with, both in our school and in many other organisations including his current project near Toowoomba.

Barry is good in curriculum planning having good innovative and creative ideas and is well able to administer what he sets out to do 

As a teacher Barry has an outstanding rapport with students. He has inspired even listless, “no interest” students to achieve at high levels in his classes. Students Barry has worked with are never found on the dole, but instead are high self motivated achievers. His efforts in developing “Dual Recognition” type programs to get better deals for kids through interaction with industry and business highlights his energy, vision resourcefulness and heart for really helping students As a person Barry is a man of integrity and high ideals, he lives what he believes. In 1981 Barry founded Hillcrest Christian College and saw it through the difficult early stages to a thriving P-12 school.
